Trade Alert – (YCS)

Sell the ProShares Ultra short Yen ETF (YCS) at $42.25 or best

Closing Trade

9-17-2012

Portfolio weighting: 10%

($10,000/$42.25) = 240 shares

The riots in China in recent days which have led to the closure of several major Japanese factories there, further damaging the country’s economic prospects. This has caused a nice little two point, or 5% pop in the ProShares Ultra short Yen ETF (YCS). So I am going to bail out and take a quick profit on my existing position.

I was really using this as a parking place for cash until better things came along, and now they have. The fundamentals in Japan are now worse than ever, and I am sure we will see 85 to the dollar again in coming months, but with QE3 now in force there are bigger fish to fry. More trade alerts are to follow. The notional model $100,000 portfolio should now be 100% in cash.

Profit: $42.25 – $42.09 = $0.16

(240 shares X $0.16) = $240, or 0.24% for the notional $100,000 portfolio.
